With so many Rome food tours out there, finding the truly exceptional ones can feel overwhelming. That’s where we come in.
Over the years, we’ve eaten our way through the best food tours not just in Rome, but also in Florence, Bologna, and Naples—so you don’t have to guess which experiences are actually worth your time (and appetite).
We’ve wandered the cobbled streets of Trastevere, pairing silky prosciutto and aged salami with local wine. In Testaccio, we nibbled freshly baked pizza al taglio and cheesy supplì.
At Mercato Centrale in Prati, we've eaten fresh produce and regional treats, while chatting with passionate local vendors. And in the heart of Centro Storico, we had dinner of homemade pasta at local trattorias.
Rome’s food scene is more than just eating—it’s about stories, culture, and community.
This 4-hour food tour in Prati is among the most beloved gourmet experiences in Rome (and Italy, too!). You'll be tasting a wide range of Roman specialties (20 in total) while visiting 5 different food venues.
The guides on this walking food tour in Rome are engaging and friendly (making it ideal for solo travellers and families with kids).
The tour ends near the Ottaviano metro stop! Consider combining this activity with a visit to St. Peter's Square, which is only a 10-minute walk away.
We'll be taking this walking food tour in Rome soon and sharing our honest thoughts.
Best foodie tour in Rome!
"Amazing and delicious tour! One of the best food tours we have been to. I love how there was an order we had to eat things from light to heavy taste. The wine pairings were also phenomenal. Vinny / Vincent was our guide, he had great energy and was very knowledgeable."

This evening walking food tour in Rome was such a fun way to see the city beyond the usual dinner spots. We got to dive into authentic Roman-Jewish dishes while hearing some really cool local history. It felt relaxed, personal, and—best of all—super tasty.
Our guide, Roberta, was warm, funny, and full of great stories that made every stop (and every bite) come alive.
We started in the quiet, historic Jewish Ghetto, where ancient traditions still thrive. As the tour progressed, we moved into the more bustling Campo de’ Fiori, alive with evening energy and local color. The contrast between the two areas gave the tour a rich sense of place.
Great night out with family and friends. Wonderful enthusiasm and knowledge from Matteo our guide.
"We had a wonderful tour guide Mateo that spoke excellent English and was easy to understand. The tour is four hours long and he was very energetic and passionate the whole time. Mateo gave us the history of the Jewish ghetto and also many other places we visited. Mateo answered any questions that the group had. The food was outstanding from the appetizers to the pizza to the pasta to the eggplant to the tiramisu to the gelato to finish it off. And you also get beer, wine, water or soda. I would highly recommend this tour."

Small-groups, engaging local guides and authentic food is what guests love about this walking food tour Rome. For those who want to stay in the area, we recommend Giuditta in Trastevere, but still you can easily arrive here from Centro Storico or Prati on foot!

The Culinary Allure of Trastevere
"Yes, an amazing food tour. Great host - Gaby, neighborhood, pace, and variety. Enjoyed that we went to an award winning gelato stop to finish the culinary journey. In most places we were the only tourists, a good sign I 🤔. There is neither a dish nor stop that I would suggest an alternative. Of course, all of the dishes that are also available in the States are better here and don't feel as "heavy"."

Eating our way through Rome.
"This was a fantastic tour. We started with porchetta, moved on to a sour cherry/ricotta tart, suppli, deep fried artichoke etc etc. All paired with wine. Lucrezia not only gave us the history of the foods but combined it with the history of the city. This made the tour extra interesting. Definitely can recommend."

Best food tour ever
"Our Eating Europe Food Tours in Rome was just fantastic. Our guide Mariel was very informative, friendly and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed touring Campo de’Fiori. It was fascinating to tour the Jewish Ghetto and learn more about the tragic history of the Jewish community in Rome. The stops in Trastavere were perfect: we enjoyed all of the food choices, and Mariel was terrific in terms of accommodating our dietary restrictions (we’re vegetarians). We enjoyed Spirito Di Vino so much that we returned a week later to experience it again. I feel that Mariel is our new Roman friend.
A perfect way to spend time in Rome: eating sensational food, and learning about the culture and history. Thank you Mariel - highly recommend this tour!!"

"Fantastic way to get a feel for Rome’s food culture and history, while at the same time getting the scoop on actual authentic local shops in Trastavere vs. tourist traps. The best, and most tasty, tour in Rome!
"This was the most enjoyable tour I’ve done in Rome. It was authentic, intimate and so interesting. Fernanda was very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable about the local area and the history of the local food. I thoroughly enjoyed all her stories and insights.
And the food itself….wow! We enjoyed such a variety and very generous quantities. It was all local and all delicious. I’ve eaten breakfast, lunch and dinner during this tour!"
Awesome food away from tourists
"Annamaria was an amazing guide. Such a fun day. Great escape from the tourists in Rome and seeing local neighborhoods while trying their food."
This walking food tour through the local neighbourhood of Prati was a standout experience—one of the best food tours we’ve taken in Italy. From expertly selected stops to generous tastings and a friendly, knowledgeable guide, every moment felt authentic and thoughtfully curated.
The tour began with a classic Roman breakfast: a smooth espresso paired with an unexpectedly amazing cannolo. Enjoyed on the terrace of a local café, it set the tone for a relaxed and immersive experience.
Next came pizza al taglio, a Roman staple. We tried several slices, but the ones topped with potatoes and mortadella stole the show. They were so good we returned later during our trip just to have them again—always a good sign!
One of the tour’s highlights was exploring Mercato Trionfale, a massive, lesser-known local market. It was buzzing with life and full of incredible ingredients and ready-to-eat dishes. Here we tasted:
It was a real insider experience—this market doesn’t typically show up on tourist itineraries.
After grazing through the market, we headed to a cozy local trattoria for a sit-down meal. The highlight was a plate of fresh pasta (cooked perfectly al dente), served with regional wine in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. It felt like dining with family.
The tour ended with gelato from a local gelateria—creamy, flavorful, and a refreshing finale to a food-filled morning
After the tour, we followed our guide’s suggestion and visited Castroni, a gourmet food shop on Via Cola di Rienzo. It’s a great spot to buy Italian food souvenirs like truffle spreads, biscotti, or handmade pasta.
Awesome Food Tour of Rome with Irene 🤤😋
"Rome Food Tour ***Note Come Hungry***
Irene, was our tour guide and she brought a lot of energy, humor, and enthusiasm to the tour. We appreciated the opportunity to sample Italian coffee, Roman pizza, different wines, and hams from Mercato Trianfale. For pasta, we had the choice of trying Cacio e Pepe or Carbonara, both accompanied by more wine. And to end the tour on a sweet note, we ate some great gelato. Throughout our stops, Irene shared a wealth of knowledge and passion for the city, making the tour incredibly interesting."

Great food tour in Rome
"This was a really fun food tour. We started with coffee and great Italian pastries, walked to a sweet shop for cookies, drove the golf cart up a hill overlooking the city for amazing panoramic views of Rome, then went to a huge market where we saw an amazing selection of produce, fish, and many other Italian delicacies. At the market we had bruschetta and caprese with fresh tomatoes from the market which were some of the most flavorful tomatoes I have ever had. From there we went to a restaurant and had a huge lunch of 3 or the 4 main pastas in Rome: Cacio e Pepe, Amatriciana, and Carbonara. We ended the tour with delicious gelato.
The tour guide was fun and knowledgeable and the food and wine was amazing. Highly recommend.
