Where to Eat the Best Pizza in Rome

Where to find the best pizza in Rome?

First, it’s worth knowing that Rome has several different styles of pizza.

These include pizza al taglio (a true Roman classic, baked in large trays and cut to your preferred size), pizza tonda (thin and crispy, typical of Rome), and pizza alla pala (a long, oval-shaped pizza with a slightly crispier crust).

And then there’s Pinsa Romana, a smaller oval-shaped treat made with a blend of different flours, giving the dough a unique texture that’s light, airy, and crispy.

In Rome, many pizzerias also serve traditional Neapolitan pizza, known for its soft, puffy crust and characteristic dark spots.

There are so many places to enjoy all these delicious styles, and whenever we visit Rome, we almost always discover another fantastic pizza spot!

Check out our favourite pizza spots in Rome, discovered so far (latest addition: May 2026)!

Al Forno della Sofita (Via Piave, 62)

Serves large, authentic Neapolitan pizzas that we couldn’t finish in one sitting.

We had the smoked salmon and zucchini flower pizzas, which were generously topped, and we immediately knew this was the real deal.

This is one of those places where you feel welcome, with a homely atmosphere.

The prices are reasonable, starting at €9 for a Margherita and going up to €15 for a gourmet pizza.

The place is easy to reach on foot from Villa Borghese, Via Veneto, and Barberini!

Location

  • Quartiere: Sallustiano
  • Address: Via Piave, 62, Rome
  • Area: Near Piazza Fiume, between Porta Pia and Via Veneto.

Rosamundas (Via dei Corronari)

One of the best options for pizza al taglio near Piazza Navona.

The pizzas are freshly baked, generously topped, and come in a variety of tasty combinations. Once heated, the cheese melts beautifully and brings out all the flavours.

We got a large slice topped with ham and mozzarella and a bottle of water for €8, which is a good price for such a touristy area.

There are a few seats inside if you prefer to sit down and enjoy your pizza. The service is quick, so you won’t have to wait long.

Pizzarium Bonci (Via della Meloria 43)

We first discovered Pizzarium during a foodie tour of Prati (which we really enjoyed) and ended up coming back many times afterwards!

The pizza is absolutely delicious, although a bit pricey. There’s a huge variety of toppings, including some really unusual ones.

We especially loved the potato pizza and the one with mortadella!

The dough is made with organic, stone-ground flour and fermented for 72 hours, which makes it extra special.

The place is very popular with locals, so there’s usually a queue. Don’t forget to take a number when you arrive!

Another bonus is that it’s only about a 10-minute leisurely walk from the entrance to the Vatican Museums, so it’s a great place to grab a bite before or after your visit.

Definitely worth a stop if you love good pizza and find yourself in the area!
