A May visit is ideal for exploring the Colosseum, with temperatures around 20°C and mostly sunny days. The only thing to keep in mind is the crowds.

The Colosseum opens at 8:30 AM in May, making the first entry slot one of the best times to visit. At this time, crowds are lighter and the morning light is perfect for photos. Afterwards, you can continue exploring the Roman Forum.

May is the perfect time to discover Appian Way, when the weather is warm but not too hot and the countryside is glowing with spring colors. Walk or cycle along the ancient road, surrounded by ruins, wildflowers, and Roman history. Explore hidden catacombs, ancient tombs, and peaceful green landscapes just outside the city — a beautiful escape from Rome’s busy streets.

10. Watch the Rome Open Tennis Tournament
